So, Is it the End or Only the Beginning?
I would have to say it is the beginning! I have learned so many different tricks and web based tools that I never knew I had access to. Doing the 23 Things has really opened my eyes. I will be using a lot of what I learned here throughout my career. It really surprised me how the concept of the 23 Things came in full circle. The only way I would say to improve it is to update with technology as it does so. Doing the 23 Things encouraged me to create my own blogs at the beginning of the semester and hopefully I will maintain them. Sometimes it is difficult being so busy. I plan to at least blog when something I find to be very significant happens. Thanks for the great semester!

Thing #23
My knowledge about copyright and Creative commons has really grown this semester. It is something I have to be sure to follow as a student and a teacher. Sometimes it is so convenient to incorporate something that is not yours into your lesson and some never get caught. We have to be sure to be good examples and show the students how to properly do it and to obey the laws ourselves.
I looked up 23 Things and I found it is based off of the 43 Things website. This is very ironic but I am sure planned that the twenty-third blog about creative commons is about this whole project,23 Things, being a prime example of the creative commons. This was very interesting to find out and there have been many interesting and helpful things I ahve learned from 23 Things blogging.

Thing #22
I personally did not like LiveBinders. I created my binders and struggled, I did not find it to be user friendly. I guess for those who enjoy this tool would use to better organize. Maybe if I was doing a research paper this would come in handy. I would be able to put the web site links I used in here and be able to find them later. This would be good in your classroom to have your students put certain sites they used into an open binder. Maybe even include it with a work cited page.

Thing #21
Using Animoto was probably the easiest thing I have ever done! Signing up was very easy and making the video was even easier. I really wish it did not cost money to make long videos but my 30 second video turned out great! I really enjoyed this website. Here is my video! 23 things video

Thing #20
I use YouTube on a regular basis, more so for entertainment. It can be used on a school libraries in a variety of ways. It can show book trailers or students presentations. The possibilities are endless. I love YouTube and although there is inappropriate material there is also very educational material. I am not sure if you wanted educational videos in this post but I thought this one was hilarious! I guess in a way it could be educational. Either way, I thought you may find it funny. Everyone in my house did! It is called
How animals eat their food....
Thing #19
I am a member of many online communities such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Teacher Pop, Good reads and I am sure there are others I am forgetting. Nothing was not interesting to me, I will do anything that I can stay on to procrastinate. I browsed around on Teacher Pop and it was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. I actually spent quite a bit of time reading things on there. This is definitely something I will use later on when I am in the field.
Thing #18
I have used Facebook for many years and here is my Facebook profile. I am fairly new to Twitter and here is my twitter profile. I am more of a Facebook fan! I have to admit I get pretty addicted. I do not post as often as many but I love getting on and catching up with everyone. It is important for educators to stay up to date with technology and social media. They need to know what the students are into. Facebook is good for schools to network with each other. Your classroom can have a page for the parents or for other teachers. Facebook is more user friendly but Twitter uses hash-tags and that is very cool itself! Both of these social networks are very addicting and enjoyable to use.
Thing #17
I joined Delicious and was not a fan of it. I could find what people said about bookmarks and it was helpful but this was not something I could get into.I am sure it could be helpful but it does not suit me. I do not know that I would use it in my classroom but it is good to add bookmarks to and be able to access them anywhere.
Thing #16
I chose to use iGoogle, I chose this one because I am already a Google user. I did make it my permanent home page. It shows notifications from different things I am signed up for and news and weather in my area. I was able to add a long list of things I am interested in on the page as well as decorate it with whatever theme I like. I love the Google calendar because I can download it to my phone and have it send me notifications. I did not care for the to-do lists because I am stuck on my sticky notes. Maybe one day I will use it but right now I like using paper or just adding things to do to my calendar. I would suggest people using Google calendar. There are so many tools on it to make your life easier.
Thing #15
I have used Wiki's for a long time. Teachers always say not to use them as references and I don't but I do go there to read a brief description about whatever it is I am researching. Wiki is good for quick information. Maybe a student asks a question that you do not know how to answer, you can wiki it to get the general information. It is quick and easy. I know to never quote it because one of my teachers pulled up Wikipedia to show us how something can be changed. She clicked edit and she typed something off the wall into it and I understood right then. This would be smart to show your students so they are aware and know that it is not a reliable source. But, it is a quick and easy place to gather information for your own knowledge.
Thing #14
I chose Bubbl us and Mindmeister as my two types of flow charts. Both of these charts had the same idea. The idea is to have a main idea and have supporting ideas branching off of it and it can go on and on. These are great for brainstorming projects or for papers. You can adjust the bubbles to be wherever you want them positioned. Both of these were very user friendly but Bubbl us was better. Mindmeister took me a few minutes to figure out but Bubbl us does not even force you to create a log in. They allow you to test it on the home page. I had no idea things like this existed although I do not know why I never thought to look for them. This is defiantly a useful tool that I will be taking advantage of!
Thing #13
While exploring Google Docs and Zoho I found Google Docs easier to use. This is my opinion anyways. It seems to be very reliable and a growing piece of technology. I could definitely see this web based application putting something like Microsoft office out of business! I actually use Dropbox and I may switch to this application. I really loved it. I created a document in it to test it and I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Since I had to create s document I created my Wedding to do list for April! because I had to make that as well. This could be used in the classroom among students because they are able to collaborate on the same document on Google Docs. The document can be shares with the students working on that document and it can be the groups effort.

Thing #12
Google Translate is a very helpful tool if you have a ELL student in your classroom. I have had to use Google translate many times in my job and it is very helpful. I created a Google Calendar for my schedule during the week days. This is a helpful tool for planning in your classroom or to connect your student to. You could make it a public document for all of the students parents to see. I have finally made up my mind that Google has everything I would EVER need! No wonder why "Google" was added to the dictionary as a verb!
Thing #11
My favorite search method was the Google Blog Search, this was also the easiest. I was able to say what I was interested in and blogs popped up. Then I picked some I found interesting. None of the search tools were difficult, I was able to figure all of them out. Topix was not my favorite one though. While using Google Blog Search, I found different classroom blogs for technology, math worksheets, and decoration ideas. I also found personal ones for sewing and sewing patterns. The more I searched the Internet I realized that you can subscribe to almost everything. This is a very useful tool that I will start to use from now on.
Thing #10
I like RSS and newsreaders because all their updates are on my google page instead of me looking it up every time to search for updates. When I see that a new update has been made I can click on it from my RSS and read about it that quickly. Teachers can subscribe to pages that help them and give them ideas for their classroom. Also, the students can help pick different ones that they are interested in to subscribe to.
Thing #9
These two are my best friends and I would shout it to crowds of people.
My family always said I would have a personal license plate with this on it.
I have the sweetest fiance ever!
I played basketball in high school.
These generators are a fun way to get a point across. Maybe the first day of school you could have the students do something fun like this to get the class to know them, as I did above. Also, they could be used for personal posters or labels and maybe the students could incorporate the generators into projects.
Thing #8
Flickr Mashups can be very useful in the classroom. You can use it to make decorations and sayings for your classroom or your students can incorporate it into projects. In my personal life, I would love for something like this to be hanging on my wall. In both my own life and in my classroom I can have these created with encouraging and uplifting quotes. I love sharing photos online. I always make sure they are appropriate and modest but I believe it is a good source of social media and a lot of fun. I am guilty for sharing many photos. Flickr Mashups was a lot of fun to play around on.
Thing # 7
Meisje in schoenenfabriek / Girl in shoe factory
Nationaal Archief
This is a 15 year old girl in 1928 who is operating a buttonhole machine in the Dutch shoe factory Jan van Arendonk, The Netherlands,Tilburg. One of my favorite things to do is sew. I look up in awe to the ones older than me who lived lives as the young lady did in the picture above. I love to sew as a hobby and for some extra money but this was obviously her life and I could only imagine her craftsmanship. I thought this picture was absolutely beautiful. The role of women have really obviously changed.
Flickr was a little difficult for me to figure out. I wanted to find a photo that meant something to me and I could not even get off the home page. I finally figured out how to search photos that were not copyright protected, these are considered "Commons" photos.

Pinterest is a great website for people with any interest! You have your personal profile and you create personal boards (categories). You can also follow your friends or people who have the same interests. Then, you can search for products and ideas that interest you and add them to your personal boards. For example, I have a "Future Classroom" board, "My Wedding" board, "Food/recipes" board, and etc. I search through the website for ideas I want to do and I organize them in my boards so they are easily accessible. You can also share things you have done or ideas you want to do. I love this tool! I have the application on my iPhone and I use it any chance I get. It is very addictive. The useful features is the fact that you can organize your "Pins" into boards and they can easily be found. It is almost like a social network among you and your friends or people with similar interest. This website is very helpful in the classroom but more for the teacher than the students. Teachers can find many "Do it yourself" projects for their students.

Thing #5
Thing #4
Everyone who writes a blog wants people to read it and if the people who read leave comments then the blogger does not feel like they are talking to themselves. I enjoy reading comments that people write and I want to know what they liked most about it and how it made them feel.
The blogs I commented on and some of which I began to follow are:
Lacey Butler's Blog
The blogs I commented on and some of which I began to follow are:
Lacey Butler's Blog
Hayley Carney's 23 Things Journey
Angie Kreier Blog
Benjamin Baldridge's Blog
Alison Curtis
We Are Blessed! Heather and Andyman
Better Days
I selected the first five because I enjoyed reading them. I tried to choose people who I thought were similar to what I think. I tried to put encouraging comments on their blog. I told them it was good and that I agreed with this or that. I began to follow a few friends blogs named We are blessed and the other is Better Days. One is a teacher and I always love reading her posts when she shares them on Facebook. The other is a beautiful family that I have known for years.
Thing #3
Blogging is really something I would like to get into as a teacher. There are many ways to incorporate blogging into this profession. I personally would like to have one to read back on and see my growth and reflect on my experiences. Also, I could create a blog for the parents of my students. We can use blogger as a type of newsletter. It can be somewhere the parents can read what their students are doing and even see pictures. Another option could be a way to share your classroom ideas with other teachers or find ideas for my own classroom. Blogging is very fun and the ideas and uses are endless!

Thing #2
I have had a lot of experience with Blogger and blogging in general. I am not the most proficient user but I have participated and followed many of my friends who have blogged as well. I just kept it simple and used my full name as my positing name "Lindsey Nicole Burris" and I named my blog "23 Things". Creating my blog was very easy because I already had a Blogger account created. I just added a new blog to my Blogger account. I do not believe that my avatar looks anything like me but it does have a big smile and I usually always am smiling. Other than that, it is just something I had to add to my blog but it is good to know how to do so.
Thing #1
I believe no matter what age you are you always have something to learn. To implement good habits is very crucial. I always try to begin everything with the end and reason in mind. This is easy for me because I have a hard time doing something unless I know what my goal. I know very well that my education is my own responsibility and I have to earn it. If I do poorly, nine times out of ten it is my own fault. No one is checking up to make sure I am doing my homework but it is my responsibility. I learned very quickly that if you go into a class thinking how awful it is you will not do as well as if you walked in with a positive attitude. This is the same with anything you do, have a positive attitude and confidence that you can do anything. If you do this, you will be more successful. As a learner or as a teacher you know how you or your students learn most effectively. Always add your learning tool box, discover effective ways to accomplish a task or to learn new material. Technology is advancing faster than I can keep up. Anytime a new piece of technology comes out that can help me to improve, I try my hardest to get my hands on it. For example, I always hate reading a book for enjoyment but I recently purchased an iPad. With my new iPad I have read two novels in no time. Problems are a challenge we have to overcome and I have no problem helping someone else through the same thing I went through or teaching someone something I know. In everything I do I try to have fun and enjoy myself, there is nothing wrong with a little play with your work!
I had no problems setting up my blog. It is also very familiar to me because I have blogged many times.
